Freaky Camera Tripod

I bought a freaky camera tripod. It is so freaky and weird that it does not really looked like a camera tripod.

Joby Gorillapod SLR-Zoom

Joby Gorillapod SLR-Zoom

It is called Joby Gorillapod SLR-Zoom. Yamiya EStore Trading is selling for RM160, which I think it pretty good offer having the thought that it is a lil hard to get in KL. Besides, I purchased it online and have it sent to me absolutely free of charge.

Joby

I read alot of reviews about it. There are more of good reviews compare to that of bad ones. First thought when I received mine was; sturdy. The length is approximately 23.5cm (from the screw to the end of the leg) and the built amazed me. It weighs under 280grams which makes it as prefect travelling companion. Like Apple iPod products, it is designed in California, USA and it is manufactured in China.

Under Joby

Every joint is adjustable (with significant amount of force) and it fits prefectly to the odd position that you favour the most.

Hanging on the chair

I’ve gotta admit I got butterflies in my stomach when I first tried out the above stunt. You definitely need a lil bit of confidence for the first time. Else, place a few pillows under it to absorb any fall. Overall, I’m pretty satisfied with this purchase because it solves all those low shutter speed problem I have when I’m out for night shots. However, having said that, this tripod is only for temporary use as it offers limited height. Definitely, you have to purchase an actual camera tripod for long term photography investment.

Support the environment

Last but not least, at the back of the packaging it stated that they are dedicated to the environment and pledge that 1% of the sales funds goes to preservation of the planet. Let’s hope they really mean it.

Comments

  1. Fath : Freaky but good tripod. :)

Jason : Manfrotto stand? Or the head? I think you could attach Manfrotto’s head/ballhead with this unit.

  2. I am in the dilemma to get this Gorilla or Monopod =.=||

My 50D with 2 bat and grip + 580ex2 is having the same prob as u. I use 17-40 F4 L now too XD

    No IS function.

  3. Ken : They are both different from each other. This Gorillapod is a better version of an ordinary tripod. It can withstand a heavier load. As for monopod, you need to hold it while taking photos. So, they work differently.

Wah… So fast get Canon EF 17-40mm F4 L USM already?! Nice to use, rite… :P
