I love prawn mee (a.k.a. hokkien mee in Penang). I can’t get enough of it and I don’t mind eating them every single day (of course, they have to be good lah). The only thing that stops me from doing so is blardy cholesterol. I’m not that healthy, yanno…
Apparently, the shop (located in Centrepoint, Bandar Utama) above serves ‘Damn Shiok Hokkien Prawn Mee’. No, you did not read it wrongly. Indeed, they named their hokkien mee (a.k.a. prawn mee in KL) as such. Surprising..? not really as they are one of the good ones in Kuala Lumpur. Therefore, they got balls guts to name theirs as one. They serve more than just prawn mee. They have ‘siew yok’, western food, Ipoh Hor Fun and etc. However, my main target was none other than their ‘Damn Shiok Hokkien Prawn Mee’.
2 big ass prawn and big chunks of pork meat. Hidden in the noodles are more peeled prawns!! A handful of beansprouts as well kangkung. Sum all that up and you get a sinful bowl of prawn mee. Best part of all is the pork lard!! Yes, they have it in there. It makes the broth oily tasty. Real tasty.
Do I like it? Yeah. Will I be back for more? Maybe because the price ain’t that ‘shiok’. I’ll probably go once in awhile. The only downside was the broth/soup. It was merely warm when it was served to me. Hence, photography at full speed (plus cincai-ness) because I don’t fancy cold food, especially my favourite dish.
The prawn mee at little penang cafe is quite alright. Not as ‘kau’ but tasty.
How much was the dish at Champs?
IIRC, it costs RM20 (± RM5) per bowl.
I like the one from Little Penang too.
so expersive RM 20! if i go outside can eat 4-5 time, also same thing, i think the boss is crazy from making money so idiot. beside the food also taste no so good [like c], the place also smell [like pasar smell] ,service no good always ask for tips ,cheating people money place beside the seafood also not fresh [got smell] and ask for more soup also had to paid RM3 for than lousy soup, better go to little penang or madam kwan! hate it!
wmj 55 : Though it costs RM 20 per bowl, I guess it is justified by the portion they give. The funny thing is, I find it alright compare to the experience you went through.
