It was rather a heavy downpour when I reached Orchard Road from Raffles City Shopping Centre. I was cursing my luck as there was a flash flood on previous week and I was fearing that it might happen again (but luckily it didn’t!). Restricted to indoors only, I made my way to Wheelock – via underpass – to hunt for some food to feed my hunger.
And that’s when I remembered that there was a good restaurant inside there, all thanks to my friend who brought me there on my previous Singapore trip. A restaurant named Cedele.
Situated on third floor of Wheelock (a shopping mall along Orchard Road), Cedele serves some simple yet healthy western food. Ranging from soups to salads as well as pastas, main meals and desserts, the ingredients they used are all fresh and natural.
As it was rather late afternoon, there were only a few customers when I was there. Shown to my seat at a quiet corner, I begun flipping thru their menu and set upon what to have.
To quench my thirst, I ordered a Mango Lassi. It was chilled, thick yet smooth but somehow, it was rather tasteless. It would be perfect if they add more mango pulp in it to give it a distinctive flavour.
For the main, Penne in White Mushrooms cream sauce was my choice. The pasta was cooked perfectly – ala al dente – while the cream sauce, unlike carbonara sauce, was light and tasty, just the way I like it to be.
Best of all, there were abundance of beef bacon bits and mushrooms in it. A perfect comfort food for cold rainy day, if you ask me.
To complete the meal, instead of their sinful-looking cakes, I opted for something else; Caramelised Banana Pancake with a scoop of Blueberry Cheesecake ice cream. Slight crisps on the outside while light and fluffy in the middle with caramelised bananas hidden in between, the pancakes went well with the ice cream and chocolate drizzle.
Overall, it was a satisfying meal. The price was reasonable as their food were all notably good. This coupled with warmth quiet ambience made it all warrant for another visit.
