A relatively new to me, my friend and I stumbled upon this Chinese restaurant when we were strolling aimlessly in 1 Utama shopping centre on one fine day. Being told that it was pretty famous in Singapore, it was no brainer that Putien was set to be our lunch venue for that day.
It was packed during peak hours but we were seated promptly upon entering the restaurant.
Chili Clams (RM14.90)
Deep Fried Duck with Yam (RM19.90)
Long story short, the food was alright. The Chili Clams (RM14.90) was morish with its slight spicy sauce kept teasing our tastebuds. The Deep Fried Duck with Yam (RM19.90) was pretty good too. The mashed yam was smooth while the wrapped duck meat was done nicely, albeit a lil thin. A splash of the Putien’s Spice Mum Chili Sauce and it’s all good. Their Shredded Meat with Bun (RM11.80) was decent. Slight sweetish yet savoury stir-fry meat worked well with the crispy fluffy bun.

Putien’s Lor Mee (RM15.90)
Despite all that, the least favourite (or perhaps the worst) dish of the day has got to be Putien’s Lor Mee (RM15.90). I’ve not tasted any lor mee as bad as this. It was really bland and starchy and for such a big bowl, ingredients were bare minimal.

To make matters worse, what ticked me off the most was the waiting staffs. They were just unfriendly with lacked of training and proper skill set. Each (food) order was retorted with ‘What else?’ (in a cold tone) while food were served without uttering a word. It’s probably a one-off thing but so is my visit despite some decent food at affordable price.

yikes, i wonder if success has made them complacent in terms of maintaining service standards. the staff members here were pretty friendly when they opened. maybe there’s a sense now that even if they’re friendly or cold, it won’t matter much, cos the customers will keep coming. dunno. hmmm…
I was in 1u couple of weeks ago and there was a long queue outside this restaurant. Didn’t manage to give it a try. The prices appear to be reasonable but I won’t be happy with the poor services.
,
Oh no! Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. We absolutely loved the Mee suah and other noodles when we were there…perhaps the Loh Mee was the wrong choice! I’d say give them another chance for their other noodles..heh
putien is really good! :) my family loves this restaurant alot

SBF : Yeap. Their prices are pretty reasonable for the kind of food they serve. It’s just that their attitude on that day pretty off.
DoC : Yeah. Maybe I’ll try other type of noodles… if I’m in 1 U again. Hehe.
Fish : Have yet to bring my family there. Haha.
