It was yet another impromptu trip to Malacca. But unlike my previous one which was aeons ago, this trip lasted just over four hours only in the historical state. Our sole purpose of this trip was to do some food hunting.
The journey was smooth and to my surprise, the traffic after Ayer Keroh toll towards the city was minimal although there was slight congestion at Jonker Walk. This trip was done on Saturday, by the way. Our first stop was Nadeje. As of writing this, there are three branches in Malacca with the latest outlet in Jaya 99. We chose this (the new outlet) over the other two branches because it is right on our food hunting path and we will passby before entering the city.
Original Mille Crepe and Rum Raisins Mille Crepe
Nama Donut (Blueberry)
The mille crepes (RM9 per piece) tasted as expected; fresh, light and rich, while the visually pretty Nama Donut (RM7.50) was pretty alright. Somehow, I prefer Nadeje’s mille crepe over the ones by Humble Beginnings.
The interesting about the donut is, despite it looks like a donut, it is essentially a base made of sponge cake with thick layer of cream on top.
Cheese Fried Potato
Iced Cappuccino
The Iced Cappuccino (RM6.90) was pretty decent but the Cheese Fried Potato (RM5.80) was below average.
Right after the tea break, off we went to the next pit stop; Klebang Original Coconut Shake. There was a long queue but the waiting time was minimal as they were quick in preparation and served seamlessly.
Klebang Original Coconut Shake Special
A cup of Coconut Shake Special costs RM2.20. It is a mixed concoction of crushed ice, coconut water, minced coconut flesh and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It is really delightful especially during scorching hot weather.
Putu Piring
While sipping our drink, we headed to the next pit stop for some putu piring. Located along Jalan Tengkera, this simple stall, managed by a couple, is said to be the place to go to in Malacca for this classic kueh. Priced at RM0.90 per piece, this simple-looking snack is made of rice flour, filled with gula Melaka and then finished off with grated coconut before serving on banana leaf. While I liked the sweet filling, I can’t really say the same for the texture of the rice cake. However, that’s just me and my picky tastebud. Do try them out and tell me what you think!
Loi’s Beef Bakuteh
Our final pit stop was none other than ‘beef bak kut teh’ at Loi’s Top Beef & Bakuteh. I wrote about it before here. We waited quite a bit before our food arrived but it was alright. It is a must to try this at least once if you’re in Malacca. With filled stomach and that satisfactory feeling, we made our back to Kuala Lumpur at 8PM.

I went to Malacca countless times but no one has ever mentioned coconut drink!! O_O
and your photos are veryvery nice!
Went to Malacca…also for a few hours..just to makan but I did not go to the same places as you. Gave Nadeje a miss as we have nicer and cheaper mille crepes here in Sibu. Hehehehehe!!!! I suppose we only have ONE maker, making a few only each day for sale…not mass-produced by workers/employees like the mille crepe outlets in the peninsula.
one way to skip the queue at the coconut is pretend you are dining in XD they will serve you first. hohoho
I would love to order the “donut”, Looks so good!
I’ve seen so many ppl giving positive reviews on the coconut shake…but I’ve not try it :-(
I prefer the mille crepe rum and raisin. nice
that’s quite a lot in four hours, congrats! :D your pic of the putu piring brought back memories of the putu piring that my aunts used to buy home. loved them, fresh and warm and sweet :D
I went to the original outlet of Nadeja and crowded crazy!
Its been some time since I took a trip down to Malacca to eat…a 4 hour makan session sounds good enough. Will have to plan one soon…with the BKT in mind. Looks delish!
msbulat :Thanks for your compliment! Now that you have known about it, you should try it out.
suituapui : LOL! Regardless, you should them out at least once. :D
kucing dengan tikus : Evil! But thanks for the tip! XD
Melissa : It looks good but kinda cloyed after a few bites. Some say the coconut shake is overrated but some like it. You should try it!
Simple Person : Me too!
Sean : Some considered it little. Haha. I have heard about them but this was my first time trying them.
Choi Yen : I have not been there for quite a long time. Usually I’d go to the one in shopping mall. But I guess this outlet should soon be as crowded as the rest.
missyblurkit : Yea, 4 hours should be sufficient for neighbourhood states. Do try the BKT and tell me what you think! But bare in mind it is quite different from the ones in Klang.
Gorgeous! Mmm , love that decadent flavour
The best mille crepe I had so far is from Nadeja. I still remember the wonderful moment when it melted in my mouth…hmm
cquek : :D
slee : Yea, I love the equal thinness of the crepe and cream.
Beef Bah Kut Teh, that’s new, I want to try ! Not sure if any in KL !!!! nice !
