Did short road trip a couple weeks back to escape the scorching heat in KL. The destination? Cameron Highlands. It has been 2 years since my last trip and I guess it was perfect choice especially when it’s for the cool weather.
Instead of Century Pines Resort, Strawberry Park Resort was picked for a change for 3 days 2 nights stay. It is located in between Tanah Rata and Brinchang, about 10 minutes from Tanah Rata. Although I have passed by the intersection heading towards this hotel on my previous trips, little did I know that this hotel is pretty far from the main road. Located along the hillside, the winding road is pretty narrow. You do need some form of transportation to move around when staying at this hotel because of the location.
Strawberry Park Resort consists of few blocks of buildings in close proximity. You will be assigned to one of the blocks (designated with alphabets A – F) depending on which type of room you picked. With such landscape, it’s rather fun and refreshing to have a stroll around the vicinity to soak in the fresh, cool air.
Tip : If you’re planning to stay at this hotel, do choose the Fresno Family Suite because you will get to have this stunning view at your room’s balcony. Furthermore, you’ll get to witness the sun rise in the morning without having to leave your room.
The room that I got was Studio and it was at Block F, facing the main hall (reception and restaurant). The room was spacious and tidy, bigger than I initially thought it would be.
The bed, on the other hand, was a letdown. Although it looked like a king size, the bed was actually two single beds combined together. Needless to say, it wasn’t a comfortable experience sleeping on it since the middle of the bed was solid hard due to the wooden panel of single bed.
The bathroom was spacious too with separated shower area at one corner. The water pressure was surprisingly strong but the shower head was installed high off the ground, a bad thing for vertical-challenged guests like me. Basic toiletries were provided so were hand towels and bath towels. Oddly, the shower gel was half filled for unknown reason.
Though the room was far off from the main building, free WiFi was provided for hotel guests. The internet speed was bearable but I was having trouble connecting later at night. The cellular data signal was pretty weak too, for Maxis at least.
The breakfast venue was at the main hall. The selection of food wasn’t extensive but it was sufficient. The staff were friendly and accommodating and foods were quickly replenished.
Overall, aside for the shortcomings, Strawberry Park Resort is good place to stay when you’re in Cameron Highlands. I liked the fact that it was really quiet throughout a day and the weather was chilly especially during night. It is, after all, located at the hill top.

I hope to have a short getaway to CH but my motion sickness will make me vomit all the way up there! ~>_<~
Choi Yen : Try using Simpang Pulai route. It is not as twisty/windy as Tapah route.
