Update : They have shifted to new location. Checkout their Facebook Page for more info!

If my memory serves me right, the last time I visited and dined in a bakery outlet was a few years back. It was the now-famous outlet that is located along Jalan Delima, Kuala Lumpur. But back then, there were only a handful of such bakery-cum-restaurants in Kuala Lumpur.

But years later, there has been a surge of pastry-bakery house / shops. Despite its rate isn’t as terrifying as the bubble tea industry, the growth has been steady with unknown bakery being discovered every other month or so. And thanks to here and here, I got to know of this place; PH Pastry House, that is somewhat similar to its competitor nearby. The plus point is that it isn’t as crazily crowded even during the peak hours… at least for now.

PH Pastry House Menu

Located along Jalan Utara, it is pretty tricky to spot this place as you need to go a big round if you’re coming from Jalan Delima. Nevertheless, the search is well worth it as you’ll be welcomed by its nicely decorated yet simply bungalow lot and ever friendly staffs.

Outdoor Seatings at PH Pastry House

There are two sections in this bungalow; air-conditioned and al-fresco seatings. On a good weather, it’s extremely pleasant to dine outside (as shown in the photo) due to its well shaded and powerful fans’ providing cool air covering every corner.

You don’t need to order at the counter as the staff will attend to you as soon as you are seated. If you fancy any pastries that are displayed on the shelf, feel free to help yourself to their limited yet good selections.

Banana Butterscotch

One of the pastries I tried was Banana Butterscotch (RM6.50). The appearance of it was pretty but it fell short in the pastry section. Perhaps, it was left in cold and hence, the texture wasn’t what I was expecting. That aside, it was decent, not overly sweet.

Scrambled Eggs

However, I wasn’t there their pastries. It was their breakfast menu that I was looking forward to as I’m a sucker for western-style breakfast. Despite being limited, I’m fairly pleased with the selections as they met most of my needs. Hopefully, they’d consider having a big breakfast (ala full works style) in near future.

Scrambled Eggs

Scrambled eggs (RM11.90) on ciabatta toast was just simple yet fulfilling. Though I prefer my scrambled to be slightly moist, it was fluffy and flavourful – with the presence of cheddar cheese. The bits of turkey bacon was a nice addition as it provided a crisp texture to the soft fluffy eggs – although I wished it was beef bacon.

Cappuccino

There was nothing to shout about their cappuccino (RM7.90) as it was alright, sufficiently decent without much kick.

Breakfast. Scrambled Eggs & Turkey Ham Omelette

On my second visit with another friend, which was on the next day (yea yea… I went there two days in a row), the turkey ham omelette (RM13.90) was my breakfast choice of the day.

Turkey Ham Omelette

With the same ingredients as the scrambled egg, it was cooked to perfection. Well hidden in it were turkey bacon and parmagiano cheese. The amount of cheese was just nice; rich yet not overpowering. And when it’s hot, it has the nice elastic-like texture; just like cheese on a warm pizza.

Iced Latte

This time round, I tried the iced latte (RM8.50). Again, it was a-okay.

Opera

Oh…. they do serve cakes in the morning too! The Opera (RM8.90) was nice; light yet slightly soggy in the middle with rich chocolate-y taste. The coffee scent was present but it wasn’t strong enough to provide any kick to the dessert.

Mango Mousse

The Mango Mousse (RM7.90) was equally pleasant too. Distinct mango flavour, pillow-soft sponge cake and light cream in between, what’s there not to like.

All in all, I like this place. It has the ambiance and the selection is just nice. And to know that the breakfast menu is till 6PM is a plus point to visit them more often. Besides, they do have main meals too but according to one of the staff, as of writing this, they are still tweaking the menu and hence they might have something different in the menu next week or so. Regardless, I can’t wait to try them!
