… continuation

We reached Taipei around noon and this was our last stop in Taiwan. After searching high and low, and since we were going to stay there for 4 days, we decided to stay in a decent hotel which cost around NT$11,300 (for 4 nights).  The best thing about this hotel (Rainbow Hotel) is that it is located at the busy streets of Ximending and it is quite near to the MRT station.

Museum Entrance

We left our bags in the room and off we went to our first visit in Taipei, the National Palace Museum.

The National Palace Museum is an art museum in Taipei City, Republic of China, in northern Taiwan. It has a permanent collection of over 650,000 pieces of ancient Chinese artifacts and artworks, making it one of the largest in the world.[1] Most of the collection are high quality pieces collected by China’s ancient emperors. – Wikipedia (link)

National Palace Museum

Honestly, this museum kicks our own national museum arse easily. Heck, this museum lives in a league of its own. The building itself is 5 times (rough estimation) larger than our very own museum and it houses tons of ancient artifacts from pre-history times.

National Palace Museum

We weren’t allowed to bring cameras into the museum and so, we had to check in our cameras at the counter. There are about 4 floors and each floor has various segments to cater different “department”. We strolled for about 2 hours and it was rather a quick stroll. Hehe.

Love Bridge

We left the museum about close to 5pm and headed for Danshui to view the Love Bridge. The journey to the said place was spooky as it was way out of the city centre. It was dark at night (though it was only 6.45pm) when we reached there. There were quite a number of tourists and all were crowding on the bridge.

Love Bridge

To me, it looked slightly like Seri Wawasan Bridge in Putrajaya. There were quite a number of wedding photographers at the scene doing some shots. Maybe it is one of the hotspots for wedding photography. Hehe. We hung around for an hour or so before we hunt for our dinner at the ever famous Ximending Night Market, which I didn’t take any photographs at all. :P

View Of Jiufen

Since we arrived in Jiufen late in afternoon, we didn’t have the chance (or time) to walk around the town area. So, in order to fully maximise our time, we woke up early to experience what is like to walk on the famous streets. Besides, free breakfast was provided by the guesthouse’s owner.

Road Signs

We left our bags in the room as we didn’t intend to bring our bags along; all thanks to the lesson we learnt on Day 2.

Streets Of Jiufen

It took us approximately 5 minutes (or less) to walk to the narrow streets of Jiufen. On the plus note, we were heading down hill instead of climbing up.

Craftings

The streets were so narrow that it could barely fit 3 people side by side. And by 10am, the streets were filled with tourists. There were lots of shops along the streets which that sell variety of things such as food products and souvenirs.

Streets Of Jiufen

We wandered further down before we stopped at a common place where our driver will be waiting for us.

Craftings

We left Jiufen approximately 11am and along the way to Taipei, the driver was kind enough to stop a few more places for us to have a look. We did stop at the Golden Waterfall again for another round.

Sea View

The condition was no better than the previous night as the weather was cloudy/foggy/misty/dull.
