Las Vacas

Situated in Kelana Jaya, this meat shop-cum-restaurant is one of those no frills eatery joints that dishes out nothing but delicious steaks (and burger). It is the place to go if you want something simple and nice without forking out an arm and a leg for a quality piece of steak. It’s the place / restaurant I heard, read and being recommended to for some wholesome meal.

Las Vacas

“What you pick is what you get” as I would like to say about this small restaurant because at the front portion of the shop is where all the best grade cuts (meats) are displayed for customers’ selection. You get to pick the type and weight of the meat you want to devour and just leave it to the staffs to do the cooking (professionally).

Beef Bruschetta

Although it was a lil salty, the rich, creamy filling (of the Beef Bruschetta) went really well with the bread. However, having said that, we did find the bread a lil thicker than usual and they were rather cold.

Lamb Burger

This is probably the best lamb burger I’ve ever tasted so far. The lamb patty wasn’t as dense (to the point of chewy) as I thought it would be and it was packed with flavours. Moreover, what made it so good was the special dressing they used on the burger.

Lamb Burger

It is probably homemade as it wasn’t the same as those generic ones you normally get from outside. There were no side dishes, coleslaw, fries and etc.

Lamb Burger

Heck, I wouldn’t care about those side dishes as the burger is so good that you may want to eat the lamb patty with the dressing without all those lettuce, tomatoes and bun. I know I would.

Rib Eye Angus

It would be degrading unfair if I would to compare this (Rib eye Angus steak) with the likes of TGIF and Chilis as this tasted way better than ‘em. With sufficient amount of marbling in between, it was nice, tender and juicy while retaining the essential flavour in the meat itself.

Rib Eye Angus

It is safe to say that they cooked the way it should be. And, best of all, this piece of steak costs at a fraction compared to those mid to high-end restaurants.

Rib Eye Angus

Overall, I love the way they cooked it without adding additional flavours / sauce (read : marinated sauce and bla bla bla). The steak was cooked to perfection while the burger was equally good. The only gripe I have was the unpleasant raw meat smell (I think) that lingers around the shop. If only they have al fresco dining style, that would be great! Price wise, I find it quite affordable for what they serve. Now that I know the existence of this place, all thanks to my friend’s recommendation, I would probably think twice again of having steak at other food joints.

Upon glancing through my photo archive, I’ve just found out that I’ve yet to write about this which I had it long ago during my visit in Singapore.

Empress Place Teochew Beef Kway Teow

Now that I’ve tried the one in Seremban as well as the one originated from Tangkak, I would say that both of them offer different style / type of beef noodles. Not wanting to give it a miss, I’ve decided to give this stall a try since I’m sucker for kinda like beef noodles in general.

Approval

Located inside of LTN Food Village (full address given below), it is just a stone throw away from where I usually bunk at whenever I’m in Singapore for holidays. The stall is plastered decorated with all the writings, news columns and etc praising about the food it serves; Teochew Beef Noodles. By this, I guess it’s enough to convince people how good it is.

Beef Kway Teow

Comes in different sizes as well as different ingredients, I opted for the usual one as shown above. Served with sliced beef and a lil minced meat, this bowl of noodles isn’t too shabby at all. Although the meat was thinly sliced, they were nice and tender while the broth/soup was sweet and nice as they didn’t go heavy on the soya sauce department.

Chili Sauce

Priced at SGD$4 (for a small bowl), and if you do not perform ur kiam siap calculation (a.k.a. conversion rate), it pretty affordable for the portion and the ingredients given. It opens from 10am till 10pm; a bummer for those people like me who loves supper. Now, it’s safe to say that I’ve another favourite hawker food in Singapore, apart from the Katong Laksa. :P
