Just 5 mins away from Restoran Yu Ai, there is a stall in a shady hut beside a road off the main street that serves one of the best fried chicken rice in Kuala Lumpur. Being intrigued by the word “fried chicken”, I decided to head out to this place with a friend for lunch on one of those peak Fridays when I was on holiday.

Segambut Fried Chicken

Locating the stall was breeze as there was a banner stating its presence. That said, finding a parking spot may seem a challenging task but lucky for us, we managed to secure a spot right in front of the stall.

Rule of conduct was simple; just state which part of the chicken you fancy at the stall and after that, grab a table and wait. It didn’t take long for the food to arrive as the fried chicken were ready and there weren’t a lot of people at the time of visit.

Chicken Rice

Although the rice was tad dry, it was pretty flavourful and fluffy.

Fried Chicken

With crispy crust with juicy meat, their fried chicken was a testament on its own. Unlike any other fried chickens that I know of, the golden-brown, evenly coated crust was light and flavoursome; a sign of less flour, good amount of spices style of seasoning. Best part was that the fried chicken wasn’t greasy at all, knowing that it had went thru some serious deep frying action.

Chili Sauce

And what is a chicken rice without its chili sauce. Their homemade chili sauce was good; spicy and tangy, giving the extra kick for the already wholesome meal.

Fried Chicken

Overall, the bill came to about RM18 including two drinks. The whole leg (with rice) does cost more compared to chicken thigh. It is said that they only sell this on certain alternate days; i.e. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Therefore, if you plan to visit this place, do make sure it falls on one of these stated days.
