I wrote once about my previous trip to The Hand Burger. And since then, I’ve been visiting ’em everytime I’m in Singapore. It’s their burgers that I fell for…

The Hand Burger, 313@Somerset

Their soft fluffy homemade burger buns, addictive special mayo and most importantly, the uber delicious burger patty. What’s there not to like about their burgers? Sure… the size of the burger ain’t the biggest. But the quality is there to stamp its mark.

The Works Burger

The Works (SGD$11.80) is the burger I would normally go for. It has the whole package to be a good burger. Thick juicy patty, crispy bacons, fresh vegetables such as lettuce and sliced tomato, and sunny side up egg waiting to be burst.

To hold them in place, they use a wooden skewer. Topped with their special mayo, they are then placed on homemade soft fluffy buns. Eating the whole burger possesses a tough challenge but it is totally worth to get messy with it.

Ice Lemon Tea

With additional charges, you are entitled to a set meal that comes with one of their selected side orders and a drink.

Creamy Mushroom Soup

One of their selected side orders is Creamy Mushroom soup (SGD$5.50). Adequately thick, it was alright with good amount of various mushrooms such as shitake and button mushrooms in it.

Calamari (Squids)

Another side order their Calamari (SGD$7.80). Unlike any other fried calamari that I’ve eaten, the crispy batter was a mixture of herbs and spices making it rather aromatic and tasty. The squid rings were huge and fresh with a bite to it.

Chunky Fries

One thing you shouldn’t miss is their Chunky Fries (SGD$4.80). Crispy and tasty, you can literally forget about your carbo diet temporary. It’s worth sacrifice for these thick potato cuts.

There are a few branches in Singapore. I used to go to the one in Raffles City Shopping Complex. But as of late, I’ve been visiting the one in 313@Somerset… with unknown reason. The ambiance is about the same for both of the locations / outlets so as the crowd. Writing this post makes me miss the awesome burger again. Sigh…

It was rather a heavy downpour when I reached Orchard Road from Raffles City Shopping Centre. I was cursing my luck as there was a flash flood on previous week and I was fearing that it might happen again (but luckily it didn’t!). Restricted to indoors only, I made my way to Wheelock – via underpass – to hunt for some food to feed my hunger.

And that’s when I remembered that there was a good restaurant inside there, all thanks to my friend who brought me there on my previous Singapore trip. A restaurant named Cedele.

Situated on third floor of Wheelock (a shopping mall along Orchard Road), Cedele serves some simple yet healthy western food. Ranging from soups to salads as well as pastas, main meals and desserts, the ingredients they used are all fresh and natural.

As it was rather late afternoon, there were only a few customers when I was there. Shown to my seat at a quiet corner, I begun flipping thru their menu and set upon what to have.

Mango Lassi

To quench my thirst, I ordered a Mango Lassi. It was chilled, thick yet smooth but somehow, it was rather tasteless. It would be perfect if they add more mango pulp in it to give it a distinctive flavour.

Penne in White Mushroom Cream Sauce

For the main, Penne in White Mushrooms cream sauce was my choice. The pasta was cooked perfectly – ala al dente – while the cream sauce, unlike carbonara sauce, was light and tasty, just the way I like it to be.

Best of all, there were abundance of beef bacon bits and mushrooms in it. A perfect comfort food for cold rainy day, if you ask me.

Caramelised Banana Pancake with Blueberry Cheesecake Ice Cream

To complete the meal, instead of their sinful-looking cakes, I opted for something else; Caramelised Banana Pancake with a scoop of Blueberry Cheesecake ice cream. Slight crisps on the outside while light and fluffy in the middle with caramelised bananas hidden in between, the pancakes went well with the ice cream and chocolate drizzle.

Overall, it was a satisfying meal. The price was reasonable as their food were all notably good. This coupled with warmth quiet ambience made it all warrant for another visit.
